I grew up in San Antonio, Texas for the majority of my childhood to age 18. I spent a majority of my schooling in the Alamo Heights School District. From middle school to high school, I played all kinds of woodwinds, with baritone saxophone being my main instrument. I don't play much now, unless friends of mine need something tracked for a song, which I am more than happy to do. A majority of my woodwind training was in marching band, as well as jazz performance. I have written pieces for woodwinds and electronics, but am mainly engulfed with recorded sound manipulation, some of which are myself playing woodwinds. In the fall of 2023, I began studying the music industry at the College of Saint Rose, which is where I started working with studio tape machines and a record lathe. I spent many hours working with the record lathe, developing the techniques needed for professional sounding records. I was also very much interested in Jungle and Drum n' Bass at the time, which pushed me to create my own dubplates of tunes. By December of 2023, I had developed a method for near professional sounding records, cutting all kinds of music. In the winter of 2023, the Saint Rose administration announced that the college would be closing after the spring term of 2024. This was a large shock to students and even faculty, but we made the most out of the time we had left. In the fall of 2024 I transferred to the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), where I plan to finish my undergraduate degree. This is where I have begun work in programming and computer music.
Once I have finished my undergraduate degree, I plan to volunteer as a children's English teacher in Nepal, via the Peace Corps. I have always admired the culture and landscape of Nepal, and rather than take a touristy, privileged Westerner vacation, I'd like to help the people in any way that I can. I hope to document this opporunity via field recording and journalling, as well as making friends within the community I find myself in. Following my volunteering, I'd like to begin applying to graduate programs, where I can further my studies regarding computer music and music technology. Given that these applications may take some time, I will most likely get a full time job to float the bills and help my family. I currently am interested in the graduate programs at the Institute of Sonology in The Hague, as well as the Institute of Electronic Music and Acoustics in Graz. By recommendation of my professors, I am also interested in the CCRMA at Stanford, but would like to work with them on PhD, rather than graduate program. I am aware that all of these things can fly out the door at any moment, and am happy wherever I end up, as long as I can do music.
